Researched Argument Project
Annotated bibliographies are a more complex way of citing sources. When we peer reviewed our annotated bibliographies in class, I noticed some of my classmates had credible sources for their research and I was able to tell they understood what they read by reading their summaries which explained what kind of information was held in each source. My peers helped me further understand what the citations should look like and they helped me understand more about APA format.
While completing my paper, I found citing my sources this way made it much easier to navigate through my research. I learned annotated bibliographies can allow me to use each source more thoroughly rather than just skimming through the sources like I would normally do. Throughout my academic career, I believe I can find myself using annotated bibliographies in order to to make me a better writer and create stronger papers altogether. |
When our class was first assigned writing a sentence outline based off of our research, I found it frustrating. Conducting an outline can be a lengthy process especially when trying to organize all of the research. However, after completing the outline, I felt as if all my thoughts were put into the correct order and I had an idea more or less how my paper was going to be written.
Overall, I'm glad we were assigned this outline to help us with our research because I believe without it, my paper wouldn't be as organized or not nearly as effective. Although it can take quite some time to complete, I believe using outlines can be very helpful and can be beneficial to any writer. |
Being assigned the annotated bibliography, the memo, and the outline, really caused me to put more effort into my research. All of these assignments really changed my writing process by making dig further into my research. I'm thankful for the assignments because I believe without them, my paper would not be as informative as it turned out to be.
From the Researched Argument Project as a whole, I learned sometimes it is important to break down the writing process in order to fully brainstorm and organize all of the research. All the steps taken before writing the final paper will greatly improve the quality of the final draft. |
Job Correspondance
Rhetoric and Writing Studies is a class that helps students grow as writers by being taught different methods on how to write certain papers. Throughout the class we were also shown how to go into depth with our research that we focused on throughout the semester. When the class was asssigned the Job Correspondance project, it was a big difference from our usual assignments. Instead of focusing on academic writing, we were asked to focus on our professional writing by writing an application letter to an internship that we are interested in along with writing an e-mail asking someone to serve as our reference. This assignment was given mainly to prepare us for our professional careers and I found it helpful because job openings or internships can be brought up at any given time and it is best to be prepared to take on the oppurtunity.
